I set my turntable up on the floor as if it were a tabla set, and let loose on some of the illest Qawwali joints I’ve come across till date.
Uncles, and Aunties of all faces and feathers came through to sit and listen to the beauty while my sister blessed us with spiced tea, and my bestest made sure things were running smoothly. My Aki made a few signs and enjoyed the vibes, and rested her soul on the floor to Wadali brothers. I was in ecstasy only playing the shit….i imagined what it would be like performing it for real.
We raised some change for the AWN, and all in all, this experiment was a success….

I heard a few tunes by you recently (which were great!) and I came across your blog. I think it’s really cool that you organised a night to help Afghans and raise money for AWN. We could definitely do with some more trans-ethnic and trans-national unity between South Asians; too much hate, not enough ‘solidarité’! ;)

Thanks Rémy, I totally agree. If we want to change this miserable situation, we need to realize that 5 fingers come together to make a fist. Forgive the violently themed analogy. But, I do think we can punch a whole in the universe.
