I am really proud of you (and I don't even know you!) for the stance you have taken. Your words and actions illustrate that you have more of a true warrior spirit than the haters, most of whom are a poor shadow of our martial ancestors. They think that beating their chests, clunking their karas and issuing death threats is a measure of a real sikh and a real man. Not so. That's not brave. What you have done is, as you could have just kept a low profile about your orientation for an easy life. Just recently one of my writing team, a gay Sikh, wrote an article about gay Indian males stuck in the closet and being forced into arranged marriages. What they did not warn us is that we would need to battle our "own community" in the process! Always stand firm my friend and never let up. We were once warriors on battlefields but that was not what made the Sikhs great. It was their values and ultimately the mind and pen is, and will always be, mightier than the sword. My generation (I'm a little older than you) and my parent's generation fucked things up and led us to the sorry state we find ourselves in. It's now down to you guys to form a new vanguard to take our community forward and start doing what we were really put on this earth to do. Unfortunately for the semi literate this will involve reading about the real history of our religion which has been lost along the way due to many factors, e.g. British rule, SGPC, power struggle between different Sikh factions both centuries ago and today.
